Project 1 Self-Expression through Object

In the first project, we are asked to produce a artwork of self-portrait on an A3 size paper and also an A4 write-up with 50 words that explain about that artwork. Then followed by the verbal presentation of that particular artwork.

Learning outcomes

  • Identify and abstract theme/ideas of the ‘self’
  • Construct a representational piece of art based on the initial ideas that have been abstracted and redefined through the process of translation and interpretation.
The 1st artwork, but fail
The Final product

By doing this project, I've learnt the basic methods of generating ideas and abstracting conceptual narratives for design and able to explore various approaches to design thinking and production. Besides that, I'm also able to explore interdisciplinary modes of artistic expression.

Project 2 Self-Expression through Architectural Space

In this project, we in a group of 3 are required to produce a 1:1 model installation that encompasses this space and evokes the representative spatial quality. The material used for the model is cardboard and measures up to a volume of no more than 1.5m x 1.5m x 2m. On the other hand, the presentation panel is required to be on an A3 panel in landscape layout that include  200-words short essay that describing the narrative of the space andexplaining the final installation. Besides, sketches and drawings of how your team developed the design from initial idea to final result are included and these images are properly annotated and labelled.

Learning outcomes

  • Be able to identify and articulate basic design principles in space and form
  • Be able to distinguish and discern the role of scale and proportion in the relationship between the human body and a designed space or enclosure
  • Design and produce a space that embodies and expresses an idea or conceptual narrative
Through this project, I've further improvement of ability to create development of a conceptual narrative and able to introduce and create an awareness of the scale and proportion of the human body. Besides, I've also explore how human anthropometry and ergonomics relate to an inform space and learnt to introduce basic design principles and terminologies.

Project 3 Space for the self, My city dreamspace

In Project 3, we are required to design a hideout space for the character that we've design according to the character's characteristic and physical outlook then understanding and perception of a hideout that best fits that character. We are required to design a sequence of at least 2-3 spaces that takes up anywhere between one-thirds to two-thirds of the vacant volume (approx. 5mW x 15mD x 12.5mH) within the site. Submission requirement are a 1:50 final model, 2 A2 presentation boards and A3 butter paper sketch journal.

Learning outcomes

  • Design and produce a space that embodies and expresses an idea or conceptual narrative
  • Be able to distinguish and discern the role of scale and proportion in the relationship between thehuman body and a designed space or enclosure
  • Be able to identify, articulate and apply basic design principles in spatial organization and relationships
  • Be able to select and apply materials to embody and enhance the sensory experience of the space
  • Be able to create, articulate and illustrate the poetics of spatial quality
From this project, I've further improvement of ability to create development of a conceptual narrative and able to introduce and create an awareness of the scale and proportion of the human body. Besides, I've also explore how human anthropometry and ergonomics relate to an inform space and learnt to introduce basic design principles and terminologies. Moreover, this assignment require us to know the method to demonstrate observation skills and be able to record, organize, interpret and describe a variety of issues via visual communications effectively and also know to manipulate variety of media and techniques to visualize ideas leading to a finish product. Along this assignment, I've learnt the development of ideas how to make a product more attractive my evolving it. Besides that, I've also learnt to organize a presentation board so that people who see it can understand it easily.
